Description

This purpose of this list is to connect clergy, mental health professionals and lay people who help people with dissociative disorders.  The audience of this list is any Christian who helps people with DID: such as clergy, counselors, support group leaders, etc.  For the purpose of this list we define a Christian as someone who believes the Bible (Old and New Testaments) is inspired of God and accepts it as the final authority with regard to faith and practice.  Agreement with the Apostle's Creed is also expected.  This list also assumes that participants believe in the following:  the reality of demons, the validity of the dissociative disorders (e.g. "multiple personalities"), the possibility that traumatic memories may become inaccessible ("forgotten") and then available at a later date ("delayed memories") and the possibility that Christians may be afflicted in some way by demons.  Posts providing new information on these controversial subjects are welcome but debating these list "assumptions" will be considered off-topic.  Posts about theology as it relates to dissociation or spiritual warfare and treating people with a dissociative disorder or some form of demonic affliction are welcome here, but please do not enter into theological debates that do not relate directly to the purpose of this list.  To be completely clear, alternate personalities as found in individuals with Dissociative Identity Disorder are not demons. This is an unscreened list therefore we will not be able to discuss individual cases. This list is intended for information sharing and should not be construed as professional advice or therapy.
